Andy Burnham featured on a special Stand Up To Cancer episode of Celebrity Gogglebox on Friday 23 October.
He became visibly emotional after hearing the story of 41-year-old Will, a young father who died from bowel cancer.
Will passed away just one week after receiving his diagnosis, which came at the same time as his partner's.
While Will tragically died from the illness, his partner responded well to her treatment.
The Prime Minister said he would "make no apology" for attempting to "lead with a bit of lightness" after receiving criticism for appearing on the show.
