A Gravship raid starved to death because I postponed the fight

Apparently while doing survey site mission a Gravship decided to attack my grav colony (VGE mod)

I couldn't afford to simply nuke the tile and leave to fight them due to having 4-5 days left and neither I cared to build grav anchor so I held onto the fact that I had multiple interceptor turrets and gravship shield modules to ward off their attacks as I took out their means of attack, so afterward I simply left then in the orbit as-is to complete the survey quest.

When I got back after 4 days I found out they didn't have enough food to last for days so eventually almost the entire crews starved to death. The fact was that they didn't even unman the weapon console to eat; they just sat there for days until they are downed and died.…
