A federal jury on Tuesday convicted Halima Salman of knowingly receiving military-style training from ISIS while living in Syria, bringing an emotional end to a closely watched terrorism trial.

The case was believed to mark the first time a woman accused of joining ISIS stood trial in a U.S. federal court.

Salman, also known as "Umm Khattab al-Muhajir," is a 27-year-old U.S. citizen and former Brooklyn resident who faces up to 10 years in prison. She is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 2.

According to federal prosecutors, Salman's parents traveled with her and her eight siblings out of the United States in 2016, ultimately taking the family to ISIS-controlled territory in Syria.
