Folks, I’ll be able to start investing when I’m around 17 or 18. I’m from the Caribbean and am just starting out in this world—I’m a complete novice, and I’m about to get my first debit card. If a bank makes money by holding your funds, why shouldn’t I be able to grow my own capital, too?

Out of the roughly 160 dollars I get each month, I set aside at least 25—strictly, without exception—and I usually end up with even more left over, around 40 or 50.

I’d love to hear your suggestions—the kind of golden advice you’d give to your best friend:

  • Where do you recommend I start?
  • What key concepts should I learn about so I don’t make any major mistakes?
  • Where can I find high-quality information that has actually been useful to you?
  • What mistakes did you make at my age (or later on) that you’d advise me to avoid, so I can save myself years of stumbling?

I look forward to reading your responses.
