Two months ago there were many doom merchants insisting that Aston Villa were heading for a season of struggle, but they are looking foolish now.

After a summer of uncertainty and much change, Villa are stepping into a brave new era and find themselves joint-top of the Champions League table after three matches.

Villa 2.0 have made a flawless start to their European campaign and are running into form in the Premier League after a sticky start.
