For years, Meghan Markle was portrayed as the cruel daughter. The ungrateful daughter. The woman who married into royalty and apparently decided her aging father was no longer worthy of a place in her life.

She was accused of abandoning him, denying him access to his grandchildren, and putting her newfound status above her own family. Now, disturbing allegations involving her father, Thomas Markle Sr., have emerged, and Meghan is once again at the center of a media firestorm. Only this time, the narrative has shifted.

Instead of asking why she kept her distance, some critics are asking why she didn’t do more with what she knew, and I have a question of my own.…
