Alex Pretti's parents speak out after shooting
The parents of Alex Pretti accused the federal government of shielding the immigration enforcement officers who fatally shot their son in Minneapolis.
Pretti, a 37-year-old Veterans Affairs hospital nurse, was killed by federal officers in January during a deportations ramp-up under President Donald Trump .
Although Trump administration officials initially portrayed Pretti as an armed domestic terrorist, bystander video showed he was holding only a cell phone when shot.
Federal prosecutors recently halted evidence-sharing with Minnesota state authorities who are attempting to independently investigate the fatal shootings of Pretti and Renee Good.
Minnesota officials have sued the Trump administration for access to critical investigative materials, including officer cell phones and key interview recordings.
