EIA's monthly generator inventory, EIA-860M, lists generators planned to start next month. Fewer than four in ten of them are listed as operating in that month now. EIA wrote in November 2025 that solar delays are usually short, a month or two. If that is right, a solar generator that was planned for last month, slipped, and is planned for next month again should be close to done. Before counting, I fixed four predictions and published them.

All four held. In 2022-2025, a solar generator planned for next month again right after a one-month slip was listed as operating in that month 40% of the time. A new solar listing made it 36% of the time, and one back after a slip of 2-3 months only 27%. In January to August 2026 the same solar comparison was 33% against 23%. For batteries in 2022-2025 it was 35% after a one-month slip against 28% for a new listing.
