Critics react to This City Is Ours as BBC crime drama returns for second season

This City Is Ours – the BBC’s popular gangster drama starring James Nelson-Joyce as Liverpool crime boss Michael Kavanagh – has returned for a second season, and the reviews are in.
Radio Times awarded the new series four out of five stars, describing it as an “engrossing, stressful and addictive return”.
The Guardian also gave it four stars, calling it as “lovable as it is bloody”.
The Times noted that the show — nicknamed “the Scouse Sopranos” — kicked off with a relatively low-key start but quickly evolved into a “twisty white-knuckle ride.”
All eight episodes of This City Is Ours season two are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
