I recently had a job interview that lasted slightly longer than scheduled. The interviewer seemed engaged throughout, but I’ve been overthinking some of my answers.
Working style: this was asked out of nowhere, I mentioned listening to music when concentrating, being independent and being comfortable working under tight deadlines.
Personality: I said I enjoy my own company, am approachable and believe in being kind to colleagues. I also mentioned that I hold myself to high standards and take time to be convinced about ideas for my personal projects.
Favourite project: I discussed a technically complex project I was passionate about. The interviewer clarified that the position wasn’t as technical as my background might suggest. I explained why my previous experience was relevant and that I understood the nature of the role. She seemed to accept my explanation.
Assessment: I described the individual tasks as relatively simple but explained how the complexity increases significantly when applied at scale.
I felt more confident about my answers to the scenario-based questions.
Now I’m worried I came across as arrogant(on how I described the assessment) overqualified (because she clarified) or just awkward, especially when talking about myself.
If you were interviewing someone, would any of these answers concern you? Or am I overthinking normal interview imperfections? Please be honest.
This job has too many vacancies (I think they’re hiring a team)
