I work in a permanent government job for about 5 years in one province, and want to move to another province to live with my spouse. Ideally, I'd like to keep my current position, salary, and job security.

My supervisor already brought this up with management, but they said there's nothing they can do because it's a different province in a different region. Regionally, we also have too many employees at my level... So really, they'd be happy if I resigned.

I've been applying for internal plus external jobs in the other province. Unfortunately in this economy, I keep running into a few issues. Some internal job postings require applicants to already live or work in that province, so I'll likely get screened out.…
