Health leaders have issued a safety warning after fresh figures revealed an increase in hospital admissions for burns and injuries related to fireworks.

According to NHS England , 85 people were admitted to hospital in England last November, rising from 60 the previous year. Over the course of 2025, total admissions hit 161, compared to 120 during the preceding 12 months.

The caution follows an incident involving a family from Hartlepool, whose son Aleks Stasiukiewicz, 17, sustained life-changing injuries in November 2024.
