Remembering the late great Walter Koenig last night with a couple of movies and while watching VI, it occurred to me that our boy's back to navigation after having served as a first officer elsewhere and that feels like quite the step back, especially considering his consolemate is off commanding the Federation's pride and joy (and presumably flagship). Was the loss of Reliant really that much of a stumbling block to his career progression?
