It’s hard to watch a Jane Austen movie and not want to be whisked away into that witty, romantic world of grand estates, manicured gardens, and Regency pageantry. The latest to join that roster of wanderlust-inducing adaptations is this month’s Sense and Sensibility , a retelling of Austen’s 1811 debut novel from director Georgia Oakley. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles star as the down-on-their-luck Dashwood sisters, who are forced to move from their fine family estate into the decidedly more modest Barton Cottage. The film was shot in various locations across the UK that make for a great “set-jetting” visit , from the National Gallery in London to Dartmoor National Park in Devon to the country estates of Dorset.
