Quest Diagnostics confirmed that patient health information or personally identifiable information was involved in a cybersecurity breach that prompted the medical testing giant to temporarily suspend access to several systems.
The New Jersey -based company said Thursday that it disabled access to its Quanum Lab Services Manager (LSM) platform after discovering unauthorized access Wednesday. Quest expects to restore full functionality as soon as Friday.
The platform allows certain healthcare providers to order laboratory tests and access results.
Quest said it believes some patient data was accessed but is still investigating the specific information involved and how many people may have been affected.
