It was a pleasant middle school afternoon. Every student was working well, following directions, and expectations. Working on an ELA writing project with headphones in (I allow them to listen to music during independent work time). Everything was going almost too perfect. I was doing my rounds around the room, checking on students and monitoring their work and Chromebook use.

When all of a sudden in the depths of my colon pressure and future flatulence began to build. I started making my way to the doorway to step into the hall and unleash it. I was about halfway across the room, at the dead center when a student got up to grab a tissue, I have to side step and that, that is where it slipped out, as silent as the room but as deadly as a forgotten milk carton in a students locker.

I briskly made my way back to my desk to work on some grading and play it off.…
