Some search results indicated that the text of the Heart Sūtra is what is painted on the body of the main character in Ugetsu. Can anyone with knowledge of the characters (is it correct to say they are Kanji characters?) share which specific syllables are visible in this photo? There are very few characters so I am quite sure that the entirety of the Heart Sūtra is not written on his body. Could it be the mantra (gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svāhā)?
