I basically can only move my tongue up, down, left and right, and that’s what I thought was everyone’s case for all my life. Imagine my surprise when I saw my brother casually and effortlessly rolling his tongue into a tube, flipping it 180°, making it look like a spoon… When I asked other family members if they could do the same, they tried it and most of them effortlessly succeeded. Others, like me, couldn’t (I don’t even know what my brain needs to do in order to achieve this). Is it something like an extra muscle in the tongue? Is it genetics?
