A 35-year-old woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center on Sunday after colliding with a vehicle while biking in North Seattle, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

The woman was riding a Lime bike on a sidewalk along Lake City Way Northeast when she crossed the street at the same time that a 38-year-old driver made a slight right turn, police said. Seattle Police Department officials said the driver unsuccessfully “tried to avoid the collision by driving up onto a small median.” The driver wasn’t impaired at the time of the crash, police said.

Medics responded to the intersection between Lake City Way Northeast and Northeast Northgate Way around 4:56 p.m. The cyclist was in critical condition.

Traffic in both directions remained blocked on Northgate Way an hour later, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation .
