A 13-month-old girl was subjected to physical and sexual abuse at the hands of her parents before she was fatally injured by her mother, a court has heard.

Michal Stasiak, 28, and Kinga Wydrzynska, 26, appeared at Warwick crown court on Tuesday, where they pleaded not guilty to 11 counts related to the death of Isabella Stasiak.

Wydrzynska is charged with Isabella’s murder, while both parents have been charged with one count of causing or allowing the death of a child, four counts of causing or allowing serious physical harm to a child, two counts related to the sexual assault of a child and three counts of child cruelty.

The court heard both parents were known to social services and the police.

Isabella died in hospital after sustaining a series of injuries including a fractured skull and ribs, a broken arm and a burn to her entire face, the court was told.
