Construction takeoff looks like an object-detection problem until the first real drawing set arrives.
Symbols overlap. Legends change between designers. Scanned sheets have noise and skew. The scale printed in the title block may not match the viewport. A schedule may contain equipment that never appears clearly on plan. Then an addendum changes three sheets while leaving the rest of the bid package untouched.
A production takeoff system therefore needs more than a model that returns bounding boxes. It needs a confidence-aware pipeline that preserves evidence, routes ambiguity to a reviewer, and keeps quantities traceable through revisions.
This article describes an implementation pattern for building that pipeline.
