Been a Controller for 6 years. 3 PE backed portfolio companies. A mix of headaches and cleanups and moving at a fast pace for the LP's and a higher than average salary. I want to do more than being stuck in this seat.
In my personal experience, the people that are moving up faster are the finance folks, not the CPA folks like myself. I have a ton on my plate at all times and I don't have the bandwidth to build out fancy models or learn cool AI agent stuff. But I want to.
Anyone else hit this plateau? I want to break through to VP of F or CFO but super hard to gain the skills when you don't have a seat directly at the FP&A table.
Thoughts?!
