"When I was 16 and living in a fairly large Tennessee city, I was driving home after my waitress job. I was on an old two-lane road that was always fairly deserted at night and had very few lights, with woods on both sides. I was never afraid to be alone because I had a lot of brothers who taught me how to handle myself, so I was stupidly sure I could handle any situation. A police car popped up out of nowhere with lights and sirens going. It scared me a bit because I knew that I wasn’t speeding or anything and had never been stopped by the police before for anything. I pulled over, and the police car stopped behind me and turned off all the lights. That seemed weird.…
