How much more do we need to save for a couple (no kids) versus as a single person?

It seems like expenses are lower per person when you’re married or partnered and sharing expenses, so I’m assuming most DINKs can retire comfortably on 1.5 times the retirement amount they’d need if they were single. Of course there are a lot of assumptions and exceptions so this is a generalization.
