On 23 October 2026 Apple released iOS 27.1 for exactly one device, the iPhone Duo, while its own security page still called iOS 27.0.1 the latest version for iPhone 11 and later. That single line splits what most iOS teams treat as one target β "the current iOS" β into two runtimes, and it changes how you set a deployment target, gate new APIs, and choose simulator destinations.
What Apple actually published
The security updates page is unusually direct:
The latest version of iOS and iPadOS is 27.0.1, and 27.1 for iPhone Duo only.
The table underneath gives the two rows that matter. iOS 27.1 is listed as available for iPhone Duo, released 23 October 2026. iOS 27.0.1 and iPadOS 27.0.1 are listed for iPhone 11 and later (plus recent iPads), released 28 September 2026. Both rows say: "This update has no published CVE entries."
That last detail matters for how you describe the release internally. This is not a security patch that one device received early.β¦
