Democratic gubernatorial candidate Aaron Ford is indirectly telling people to vote Republican. Don’t expect him to realize it.

After several days of early voting, the race between Gov. Joe Lombardo and Ford looks close . As of this writing, more Democrats than Republicans have returned ballots , but it’s a narrow gap. In 2022, Democrats held a 6.3 percentage point lead after one week of early voting . That was the year, Lombardo defeated an incumbent Democrat governor, although Republicans lost many close races that cycle.

Ford doesn’t want to end the campaign talking about his lobbyist-funded junkets . Or his frequent flip-flops . Or his affection for criminals . So, his new gambit is a stunt connected to gas prices.

“Trump’s war is costing Nevada families, and I’m demanding $2,000 refund checks for every household,” Ford wrote Wednesday on X .…
