New account just to be cautious. I have an interesting situation I'm in. There has been a schism in my now previous workplace, resulting in a split in the company. This situation resulted in some allegedly backstabbing behavior between higher ups (Abuse was also allegedly involved). I can't go into detail because of possible legal action that may or may not occur, but due to the circumstance I am the only one who knows how to work our websites system (and was the only one who knew how during and before the schism as well) and understands the workflows needed to run the business generally. I've trained in just about all roles previously, created new workflows to solve problems that were previously left ongoing and can basically lead the entire business. I'm expected to train our small team on both the website and the work in addition to the other work I have to do, with a 1hr 45min commute to the location monthly (This was just implemented which I suggested because of everything going on and the training thing). I'm also often consulted on weighty decisions and privy to more than most.

So, what should I ask as compensation for basically setting up a company from scratch (at least partially)? I am currently paid $17 part time (weekly) as an independent contractor. I was being paid full time, but now I'm only being paid part time while multiple tasks are still stacked on, while being expected to finish them quickly and being consulted about hefty decisions. At first it was because of the situation early on, but now as I work from home I'm still being paid part time. What I don't want is to do all of this and receive a measly raise for my efforts, but given the (delicate) situation, I think it may be rude for me to ask this early in. I do have a contract, but it's incredibly simple and offers no protections really. (A lot of this has been rather informal).

BTW the (new) owner has anger issues so they can't take advice/criticism from most or talk to customers well because of it and has problems planning for the future of the business resulting in hasty, vengeful, impulsive, and clouded decision making.

What should I ask as compensation for my work?
