When I first started using AI tools seriously I thought I just needed: A better model A longer prompt More specific keywords None of that was the real problem. The real problem was I had no system for knowing which prompts actually worked. I'd get a great output once and have no idea how to replicate it. I'd get a terrible output and just rewrite randomly hoping for better. Everything changed when I started: Writing multiple prompt variations for the same task Comparing outputs side by side Ranking prompts based on actual output quality Saving winners and building on them Sounds simple. But almost nobody does it. Six months of random prompting vs two weeks of systematic ranking the difference in output quality was embarrassing. Anyone else gone through this?
