A Singapore couple have been jailed for more than 15 years each for repeatedly abusing their eight-month-old son, Trevor Neo Yu Hin, before his death in September 2024.
The High Court on October 21 sentenced the boy’s father, Neo Jia Ming, 27, to 16 years’ imprisonment and his mother, Chloe Gan Ci Xuan, 23, to 15 years and three months. The couple had pleaded guilty to charges relating to the child’s death and ill-treatment on October 12.
Trevor died after Gan smothered him, hit him in the face and turned him face down on a mattress to stop him crying. Neo was in the same room playing a game on his mobile phone and did not intervene, according to court proceedings reported by The Straits Times and Channel NewsAsia.
