Anthropic just launched an AI assistant that messages you first. Claude Duet is the company’s answer to similar assistants from Meta (called Muse) and OpenAI (called Dots). Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US can now join the waitlist.

Anthropic announced Duet and it comes at no extra cost if you already pay for Claude. But the work it does in the background counts toward your plan’s usage limits, so you could hit them sooner than with regular chatting.

What Claude Duet does all day

Anthropic calls Duet a research preview, which is an early test version. Each morning, it sends a short brief on the most important items across your connected apps. Through the day, it checks those apps every few hours and alerts you when something needs attention.

You can also hand it bigger jobs. Anthropic says Duet can build dashboards and create financial or sales forecasts. It works on its own online computer, so it keeps going after you close the app.
