Hey all, 3rd grade teacher here. I was out for a few days so had a substitute. This afternoon I got an email from a child's mom. I will paraphrase it. She says her child asked multiple times to go to the bathroom and was told to wait each time. (It sounds like it was a long time that he had to wait but I'm not sure how long exactly). Mom went on to say he eventually couldn't wait and had an accident (peed in his pants). He was sent to nurse where mom was called for a clothes change. Mom says her child does not have accidents and how upset she is and embarrassed her son is.

She's not blaming me but how do I address this? Just forward it to my principal and let her deal with it? I wasn't there so obviously I had nothing to do with this. It does make me angry that this happened in my classroom. Thanks for any advice.
