Weeb Labs has published pico_hdmi on GitHub, a video and audio output library for the RP2350 and Raspberry Pi Pico 2. It uses the chip’s HSTX peripheral and its hardware TMDS encoding, so there is no bit-banging and no overclock needed for 480p output. The library handles sync polarity and HDMI Data Island placement for each mode on its own.
Audio runs at 48kHz by default, with 32000, 44100, 88200, 96000, 176400 and 192000 Hz also supported. Output pins default to CLK on GPIO12/13 and the three data pairs on GPIO14 through GPIO19, and boards that swap lanes or polarity can pass in their own pinout. The pads are set to fast slew and 12mA drive for edge margin at 720p60.
A 2.0 beta branch adds an opt-in scanout path for applications doing heavy per-line work, overlays, 320 to 640 scaling, or live capture. One mode lets the callback return a 320-pixel RGB565 line that DMA doubles to 640 output pixels. The 720p builds need the RP2350 at 372 MHz with 1.3V core voltage.…
