I recently configured an ESPHome-based car display to sync odometer data with Home Assistant and LubeLogger. The Setup & Logic Hardware: M5Stack Tab5 + BLE OBD2 dongle. Connectivity: Connected via in-car LTE Wi-Fi. It uses ESPHome's native WireGuard component to connect directly to my home HA server as a local entity while driving. Automation: To capture the exact final mileage of the trip, the sync is triggered exactly when the engine shuts down (detected by the OBD state change in HA). The Sync: Upon shutdown, HA grabs the final odometer value from the ESPHome sensor and pushes it to LubeLogger via API/Webhook.
