Slightly silly question, why are some taxonomy names cool and others are just, the latin word for the animal repeated?

Homo sapiens meaning it's "wise man" which it's cool and does tell you the biggest characteristic of humans

Rattus rattus it's just rat in Latin twice

And I don't know what's going on whit the gorilla one

So, What exactly determined that some animals get the "biggest or most noticeable characteristic on them as their scientific name, while others just get the latin animal name of them?
