Earlier this summer, after heroically rescuing a 10-year-old boy in serious trouble of going under in heavy shorebreak conditions, 16-year-old Santa Cruz lifeguard Ryder Williams have found himself thrust into the media spotlight. On Monday, the spotlight got even brighter when Williams was welcomed into the Oval Office by President Donald Trump alongside 10-year-old Nathaniel Rai, the boy he rescued from powerful surf at Santa Cruz’s Seabright State Beach on July 25. The dramatic rescue was captured on video, went viral and ultimately caught the president’s attention. “What you did was incredible, and everybody saw it. And you’d watch it over and over.
