A fox that bit a person in the south Las Vegas Valley on Monday was confirmed to have rabies, a Clark County spokesperson said.
The bite occurred in the 9300 block of Jeremy Blaine Court, near Interstate 15 and Silverado Ranch Boulevard, Jennifer Cooper said in a news release, adding that Clark County Animal Protection Services was alerted.
It was confirmed Thursday that the fox had rabies, Cooper said.
“The fox is deceased and there is no current threat to public safety,” Cooper said.
The news release urged anybody in the area who may have had contact with the fox, or who was possibly bitten by the animal, to seek medical attention.
“Additionally, if bitten, please call 311 to reach an on-call officer with Animal Protection Services as county buildings are closed until Monday,” the news release said.
