The Renton School District has formally cut ties with former assistant principal and boys basketball coach Rashaad Powell following an investigation and an appeal process .

Powell was placed on administrative leave in early April when the district opened an investigation into allegations that Powell had sent unwanted sexually explicit photos to students’ mothers. Following an investigation that Powell has heavily criticized, the district concluded that Powell had “more likely than not” engaged in the alleged behavior with at least two students’ mothers in recent years.

Despite concluding that Powell violated district policy and describing his alleged conduct as a “serious breach of professional boundaries and an abuse of his position of authority,” the Renton School District offered Powell a settlement agreement in May.…
