Chery has unveiled a new Tiggo 7 with a more rugged look, and called in Peter Crouch to help mark the occasion. Whether the six-foot seven inch tall former England striker found enough legroom remains one of several unanswered questions about the new family SUV – all we’ve got so far are some fancy pictures.

The reveal had home advantage, too, taking place in Chery’s HQ in China at the Wuhu Grand Theatre, where Crouch was joined by fellow footballing ambassador Edwin van der Sar . Chery also pulled the covers off a second SUV, the Tiggo X7, giving the famous pair two new models to cast their eyes over.

For now, the Tiggo 7’s smarter styling is the main news – although the 7X takes that to a different level with a far more rugged look with wheel arch extensions, roof rails and skid plates to protect from off-road bumps. A more adventurous appearance doesn’t, of course, tell us what’s happening underneath.…
