A 12-HOUR release granted by the Gujarat High Court (HC) that would leave little time for a hospital visit was “a release on paper alone”, jailed AAP Dediapada MLA Chaitar Vasava argued before the Supreme Court, which on Tuesday granted him three days’ temporary bail to visit his critically ill half-brother, Shantilal, who was admitted to a hospital in Surat after an alleged suicide bid on October 12.

In his petition, Vasava challenged the practicality of the relief granted by the Gujarat HC earlier, contending that the journey from Vadodara Central Jail to Surat would take around three hours each way.…
