We pay AI subscriptions while supplying the data that feeds AI for free. Reddit gets paid for our discussions. What do users get when that data helps build physical AI?

I’m a Korean farmer in my 60s and an amateur writer who thinks about AI and the future of society.

I pay to use AI tools. In the process, the questions and conversations I create may also become useful data for AI systems. Meanwhile, Reddit has made deals to license its users’ content to AI companies.

So there are two exchanges happening: users pay subscription fees while contributing data, and Reddit gets paid for access to discussions its users created.

If that data helps train AI that eventually moves beyond a screen and into our homes, workplaces, and daily lives, what should the people who supplied it receive in return?

Should users get compensation, a share of the value, stronger control over their data, or simply better services?

Reddit gets paid. AI companies get training data. What do users get?

I’m curious where people draw the line between ordinary participation on a platform and contributing something of lasting commercial value.
