Serving as the county’s civic headquarters since 1938, this entire 315,000-sq-ft building remained open during a $105-million renovation.

Work ran mostly at night, on weekends and over holidays, but over the course of construction, entire departments moved in and out of swing space at least 24 times. Each move ran over a weekend or across one to three days and every other county service stayed up while it happened.…
