How do you avoid sitting for hours when you're deep in work?

I work at a desk most of the day, and I've noticed I can go hours without getting up when I'm really focused on something. It's not as bad when I'm doing admin work or answering emails since those are easy enough to pause. But when I'm writing a report or working through something complicated, I get so caught up in it that I completely lose track of time.

I don't want another timer going off in the middle of a difficult task, especially when I'm finally concentrating. I either ignore it or tell myself I'll get up after finishing one more thing, and then another hour passes. Then I'll realize I've barely moved since lunch.

Has anyone found a way to work short movement breaks into a job where you need long stretches of uninterrupted focus? I'd rather change the workflow than rely on an alarm I keep snoozing.
