Intel is buying Israeli quantum software startup Classiq, reportedly for about $2.3bn, to combine its own quantum chips with Classiq's programming tools.
The US chipmaker signed an agreement to buy the Israeli quantum software company, reportedly for $2.2b, in a bid to offer both quantum hardware and software.
Intel says it intends to keep Classiq's quantum software working on other companies' hardware after it buys the startup. Intel didn't disclose a price; Ctech reported $2.3 billion, and the deal is expected to close next year.
Intel Corp. agreed to buy Israeli startup Classiq Technologies Ltd. as part of a push to capitalize on quantum computing, a still-nascent field that is seeking commercial applications.
