Hello Criterion. I’ve recently published a book about A24. What I found when writing is that Criterion comes up a lot! Many of the directors are Criterion fans, starting with Barry Jenkins who essentially incorporated the “film school in a box” education…

This would be my picks: Fabián Bielisnky double feature with his ONLY two films, "Nueve Reinas" and "El Aura": These films are considered amongst the best thrillers in argentinian cinema, with "Nueve Reinas" mixing the thriller style with a sharp social…

complete Kubrick arrived today and it’s great but I’ve been hearing a lot of concern about how the discs are stored. they’re pretty tight in there and I’m concerned about damaging them.…

I just got the email this morning that my flash sale order from 10/20 has shipped. Meanwhile, my Kino Lorber order from last month is still in "received" status and a couple of items have been removed by KL because they are no longer available.…

Finally got around to opening this one and this is a great piece. Would be interested in a print to hang. So rad. submitted by /u/RalphTMouse [link] [comments]

So, I've seen/tracked over 3,000 films since I was twelve. Only recently, upon seeing Ken Russell's The Devils (2026 4K restoration), I'm just in total awe and - even as an independent filmmaker, actively working on a project - I'm frozen.…

The biggest haul I've done so far. First movie I'm planning on watching is Miller's Crossing (one of my favorite Coen bros productions). Also, I'm pretty pumped for the 1964 version of the Killers, which I haven't seen yet. My evening is fully booked!…

For those waiting for or who just bought the Kubrick set. Make sure to check your discs. I was scrubbing through them and one (POG) froze on me. Tried wiping the disc several times and it still froze. I returned my set and am waiting for a replacement.…

Idk who designed this packaging but it’s a nightmare to slide the discs in and out of their pockets. I felt like I was going to break one trying to put it back in its slot. submitted by /u/HowDoesAnnaDoIt [link] [comments]

In your personal opinion, what's the most slept on great hidden gem film in the collection? submitted by /u/DriverDelicious6539 [link] [comments]

In this day and oppressive regime, I can’t believe I get to see this gem. Have the place all to myself! Pure Cinema. submitted by /u/F_D_Tank [link] [comments]

Getting tired and jealous of all these people getting their collection before me. Just wait till I get mine, then you’ll see! submitted by /u/action_juice [link] [comments]

There was a period where Eyes Wide Shut was constantly discussed. Criterion put it out in 4K. Then there was demand for Barry Lyndon to get a 4K. It happened. Next it was The Devils, which while Criterion isn’t putting it out, at least Clockwork will.…

I'd love to hear your thoughts on both of these excellent films. submitted by /u/MOinthepast [link] [comments]

Although Criterion and other boutique labels are releasing more films on 4K UHD, I’m scared about how the number of manufacturers producing players keeps shrinking.…

Side note, I almost got into a car crash on the way home from the post office. Kubrick's entire filmography flashed before my eyes submitted by /u/Zickedy_Zac_115 [link] [comments]

Hello! The mods graciously gave me permission to share this. I’m writing a free Substack covering Ingrid Bergman’s filmography in chronological order—from her earliest Swedish films to her final screen appearances.…

Pick this one up yesterday. I was out of town ("vacation") and saw that the actress, Ezter Balint would be in town for a few days for a screening and two performances. Luckily the one B&N by my hotel had it as it said none in my home area did.…
