This is my 3rd year growing Murasaki sweet potatoes in Southern California (zone10b)
It's one of my favorite things to grow as it's pest and disease resistant (knock on wood), the leaves are great for stir fry and the tubers are pleasant surprises to dig up
Soil - clay, amended over the years with mostly organic materials: compost, leaf/woodchip mulch and grass clippings.
Planting - Without fail, during each harvest I'll accidentally stab into tubers with the pitch fork and I just toss those --along with the smaller tubers-- back into the soil to start new vines for the next growing season...it's that simple to rinse and repeat!
