Turning 18 with £10k, what do I do?

15s threshold

As per the title I will be turning 18 in the next month. I currently have £5k in a junior 5% savings account with £2k in a current account and will be receiving a trust fund of ~£5k once 18.
I recently quit the job that allowed me to save this much so my plan is to leave the current account for spending until I finish school. With driving lessons and associated fees accounted for I plan to have about £9k ready to invest.
Originally I wanted to open a S&S ISA and invest ~80% of this sum into an index like the ftse all-world, <5% in individual stocks and the rest as a cash buffer in a normal savings account.
Maybe a poor decision but I queried this with Claude and it seemed adamant that I should keep the vast majority of this money in a normal savings account hence why I ask here. It is worth noticing that I do not intent to touch this money throughout university.
