My[33m] gf[27f] says her foster mother made her get life insurance which she pays $35 every 3 months. Is this normal/worth?

My girlfriend(27f) recently told me that she pays $35 every 3 months to Globe Life to maintain her life insurance policy. She has done this for 2 ish years so far. Her foster mother made her get this policy and is the beneficiary. Likewise, her foster mother (who is retired and 60, she collects rent from everyone in their house) also has life insurance, and the foster mother's son and my girlfriend are beneficiaries. I dont know if the foster mother's son (in his 40s and in the same house) also has life insurance or not.

My gf lives at her foster mother's house for a discounted rent ($400 a month for rent). The surrounding Philadelphia area, most rent is $700-1000 for the cheapest studios, and other areas are $1500+ for Center City or other nicer areas.…
