I have tried to grow a little mint plant in my apartment several times, to no avail. At first, I saw several videos saying that you can just buy a package of mint from the grocery store, snip off the end, put it in a glass of water by the window, and plant it once roots grow. Tried a few times, sprig always shriveled up and died before roots grew. Then I got some potted mint from the grocery store, replanted it with this pot and dirt that my mom gave me (she gardens a bit), and gave it a couple ounces of water every few days. It hung on for a little while, but never seemed to actually grow, and now it’s like this. Everything I’ve seen and read suggests that the difficult part is keeping the mint under control because it grows like a weed, but here we are.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need different dirt? Do I need a bigger pot? Do I need to seek absolution from a religious order (if so, which one)? My goal is to have mint on hand for use in cocktails. That’s it.…
