I love most of the details in my house. The doors are all doug fir and the trim is cedar. But for some unknown reason, whoever built the house decided to do these stairs with this corny off-the-shelf stuff. Nothing about it matches anything else in the house. It's a different kind of wood, a different kind of (cheap) finish, and a different kind of detailing. I think sanding and refinishing it would help, but the detailing seems like it would make that a big pain.
Also, why are the stairs tile? What is the point of that?
Is it hard to rebuild stairs? I feel like it's my only option.
