I’m looking for sturdy, durable peony cages to leave in place permanently, and I’m willing to pay up. Can’t find the perfect one online but I’m hoping somebody can point me to one with all the following features:
1) Large
2) “Trumpet” shape with two or three rings increasing in diameter as you go up
3) Grow-through grid on the top ring
4) Plain and minimalist. No decorative swoops, curlicues, finials etc.
The Gardener’s Supply “Essex” XL supports have the trumpet shape and grid, but reviews make me doubt they’re BIFL, and the “swoop and ball” style wouldn’t suit my garden. The Agriframes “Fluted peony support” has the right minimalist look and is reported to be durable, but it’s smaller and lacks the top grid. If I had to choose I’d take the Agriframes one and tie on a twine grid, but do any exist for sale in the US that hit all four points?
